Abel Tasman was a Dutch explorer who was the first European to discover New Zealand. He named it Staten land.
He sailed around the outskirts of the land and mapped the country.
Later,Dutch cartographers remained it Nieuw Zeeland after the province came from,Zeeland.(Sealand)
Even later on, a British explorer named Captain James Cook was the first European to steep foot on the land and renamed it New Zealand to anglicise it.
On Tuesday the 22nd rooms 5 and 8 went on a big bus to the Whanganui museum.
We were greeted by fire Lisa who works at the museum. She guided us to a class room.
She told us a stories about a flute made from the femur of a 4-5 year old.
The Maori culture when someone dies some people like to wear a Tonga from that person to keep them close.
Fire Lisa discovered though rehearses that the bone came from her ansister.
The bone flute was put on display.
Human remains are stored in the basement of the museum.
The flute begin to play by itself, slowly at first then it played all day.
The flute continue to play randomly, some if the staff found it frightening and could not work there.
The flute was returned to the basement with the other human remains.
The flute became calm and quiet
On the 21 as well, when we got to the waka then we got told the wakas backstory. We were allowed to touch the wood of the waka because the oils of our hands make the wood smooth and polished. The only things we weren’t allowed to touch was the flax and feathers. The hands in our hands rot the flax and the feathers.Fire Lisa said that all the wakas can still flote on water. One of the wakas were around 300-400 years old and the other on was 800 years old.One of them was coloured with red, white and black, with a big Maori carving of all the Maori gods. But the other one was just plain wood. The wood used for the wakas was torta.Torta trees were one of the best trees to use for wakas. If we keep the wakas safe they can be there for generations and generations to go.
Today in music class I learnt how to draw a treble clef.

Shotgun:
Once you pull a trigger on a shotgun,The shell gets hit by a metal stick with a spring in the middle of it and it hits the little circle on the bottom of the shell. Then it goes off and the small tiny balls come out of the shell known as the bullets. And that’s how a shotgun fires.
Any rifle:
When you load the rifle,Its like the same as the shotgun put once the metal pole in the rifle hits the tiny circle on the bullet,it shoots it off then the small top part and that’s when the bullets go out and the shell of the rifle bullet. And that’s how a rifle works
Rpg:
How a RPG works is the same way as the rifle and shotgun and the metal spring hitting the rocket and setting it off. When it gets set of it needs enough force to hit the target and that’s why if you see in videos that they is fire once the rocket launcher gets fired. And that’s how a RPG works.
